Rodney Rojas, a native floridian, was born in Key West. Having both a father and brother who are also great sax players, Rod found the saxophone a most natural and comfortable form of expression.
His service in the First U.S. Army Band served him well both musically, professionally, and personally. Rodney attended USF and earned his music degree in '82 under the G.I. bill. Much in demand, he has played in a wide variety of venues with a wide variety of musical groups. In addition to special event, festival, corporate, cruise, club & studio jobs. Rod even appeared in a Buick TV commercial as a sax player!
Rodney Rojas is one of the most talented and soulful musicians in Florida. He plays with a power and creativity that draws you in. Considering himself more a commercial player, many in the Tampa Bay area think of him as one of the best jazz soloists around. With over 30 years of professional experience, Rodney has played hundreds of shows and productions backing and performing with various artists and acts from Don Rickles to Doc Severinsen. Add to his credits performances with the Florida Orchestra, Sarasota Symphony, Sarasota Concert Band, & Lakeland Symphony. Rod has also performed at Clearwater Jazz Holiday on 3 occasions and Sarasota Jazz Festival numerous times alongside some of the biggest names in jazz. Rodney Rojas remains a highly respected member of the bay area music community.
